Not a Real Blog Post

Post by Lara
1 July 2012

I’ve started a list of one-liners and other brief thoughts that probably do not need to be drawn out into a whole post, so here will be my dumping ground. I imagine this will not be the last “Not a Real Blog Post”… so consider this numero uno in the series.

  • Kevin (Abubakar- remember?) has mad dance skills, at least by the standards of every African who has seen him dance thus far.
  • Peace Corps seems to enjoy killing trees.
  • In Sierra Leone, it seems that when the electricity goes out, the music keeps going. That is, at any event with music, there is always a generator dedicated to just music, and they seem to always pick the better one for that.
  • I learned from my language teacher that if the dirt is green, it’s slippery. Just a good thing to know.
  • Peace Corps seems to have a culture all its own when it comes to the kinds of things that can make up everyday conversation. Bowel movements are a frequent topic of discussion, and no one tends to bat an eye when the subject turns to this or other bodily functions. It’s weird, but in a good way.
